Am I done? Is it time yet? Ladies and gentlemen, I’m happy to announce…

I’m so happy. I wish I could show you how happy, but words can’t convey it.

Imagine diving into an ice cream sundae with the man/woman of your dreams, naked, wrapped around you while Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” is blasting as loud as possible, and you’ve got a wad of fresh $100 bills in your back pocket.

Now multiply it by ten. That’s how I feel 🙂

All I have to do now is review, fix things up, and get it sent off to an agent.

Still, the hard part is over!

December 7, 2013

I hate to be cryptic.

I really when people say something like “I have great news!  But I’m not allowed to talk about it!”  So I won’t do that.  Instead, I’ll just tell you what’s up.

Earlier today, I got an email from a publisher.  My story is now on the short list.  That’s good!  They liked it enough to scrutinize over it for a while, supposedly 2-3 weeks.  If they still like it, it goes into round 3.  Then I have to wait 2-3 MONTHS for it.

But no big deal.  It’s a possibility of $30, and really good exposure.  Plus, it looks great on my list of publishing credits!  It just sucks waiting, but hey, that’s the name of the game.

A few hours later (just a little bit ago), I got another email.  Short and to the point, it said that another story would be accepted.

Well, that’s just great.  Sure, it’s only $10, but who cares?  Again, I’m not in this short story game for the money (that’s what novels are for!), and it’s more exposure.

So happy!

More info as it comes in, but for now, why should I be upset?  Things are looking good.

November 12, 2013

I’ve been submitting stories.  Flooding the market, so to speak.  So why won’t anyone publish me?!

I’m also flooded here at home with stories.  Stuff that needs editing, stuff that needs finishing, stuff that needs to go out.  There’s not enough hours in the day, and not enough willing and able editors who want to buy my stuff.

So come on, people.  Accept a story.  Help me get out from under this deluge of work I have!

And seriously, what’s with the snow?  Snow in Ohio in early November?  Bah!

I should add that I just put a story up on my online workshop.  I hope it’s ready to go after this round!  More importantly, I hope that stories I have out doing the rounds right now will be accepted so that I can send this one out when it’s ready!

Never mind the wistful thinking, folks.  I get excited when I’m proactive.  I’ll probably lay awake all night thinking of how awesome my future is going to be, and then have no desire to write for the rest of the week.

No, wait!  Think positive!  And hey, how about you send me some positive vibes for good fortune?  I’ll totally make it worth your while!
